(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Tuesday December 31, 2013, around 7:45 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a fail to remain collision at the intersection of Line 29 and Road 125 (south west of Stratford).
Investigation revealed that a Jeep Grand Cherokee carrying a Municipality of West Perth family was travelling east bound on Line 29, when a black pickup truck travelling north bound on Road 125 T boned them within the intersection. The pickup truck left the scene without stopping. The 40 year old male driver of the Jeep as well as the 32 year old, and the 20 month old female passengers did not sustain injuries in the collision. The pickup truck was located by police a short while later, resulting in the arrest of the male driver.
Jake GROENESTEGE (19) of the Township of Perth East has been charged with “fail to stop at scene of accidentâ€Â, “possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30 gramsâ€Â, “careless drivingâ€Â, and “novice driver – B.A.C. above zeroâ€Â. He will have to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday February 10, 2014 to answer to these charges.
