Ivan HASANAC – Over 80, Hit And Run

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On August 19, 2016, at 7:02 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle swerving all over the road and hitting the meridian on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. The vehicle was located on the south bound shoulder near the Highway 141 exit. The officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Ivan HASANAC, 66 years of age from Kitchener was arrested and charged with:

· Care or control over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).

· Fail to report accident contrary to the CC.

· Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on September 29, 2016 to answer to his charges. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.

The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
