The sad reality is that town staff abusing our Children likely won’t be enough to get you to start attending council meetings and demanding change or your Rights back. It wasn’t your kid that was affected, so why should you give a shit?
They have stripped away some of your Rights. Members of the Public Gallery, Press and Delegations have also been stripped of their Dignity. Council also wastes millions of YOUR money every year and have done so under the “leadership” of neil vincent, aka the Great Oppressor.
What more can they do to us? Council took away our outdoor pool so town staff didn’t have to maintain it, or staff it. They don’t let our Children use our own Public pool during summer weekends. They make our Children walk in traffic to get to school in the winter, and refuse to clear the west pedestrian path on Hanna bridge and our Community trails.
It is clear town staff do not care about the safety or quality of life of our Children or anyone in our Community. Comments from a town staffer clearly showed their true colors when she complained that exposing the abuse was wrong, as it may cost her her job, as her job depended on the number of day campers. This town staffer was not concerned about the children, only about her own self interest. Not the right moral character for a Civil Servant. It’s as bad as the sidewalk guy clearing his own laneway with town equipment while ignoring the sidewalks around the school.
North Huronians are suffering from Battered Taxpayer Syndrome. They cower in silence while council lets our infrastructure crumble to the point that “Danger” signs need to be posted in a pathetic attempt to mitigate liability. Note: They rubber stamp budgets with constantly ballooning staff costs while their workload constantly decreases.
The Public has been constantly abused, called names, and silenced at council meetings. In Chambers they have called several local media outlets liars, called one Ministry “Cowards”, bad mouthed and mistreated the BBIA and Howson dam Committees, ban the Press and Public from questioning council on the official record, etc. etc.. No wonder they are trying to ban independant video recording of them in Chambers.
