Waterloo Region, Ontario – A team of Traffic Investigators from the Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Branch continue to actively investigate a fatal hit and run that occurred on Hazel St. in the area of Austin Dr. in Waterloo in the morning of October 20, 2013.
Investigation so far has led Police to believe the vehicle involved in the incident which killed 29 year old Jordan Gillis, of Waterloo, may be a red Dodge Calibre, Jeep Compass, or Jeep Patriot (see photos below) .
The vehicle is expected to have damage to the front bumper and hood. Auto body repair facilities and the public are encouraged to be on high alert for a vehicle matching this description. Police continue to ask for the public’s vigilance in identifying the vehicle.
“This tragic event is likely weighing heavily on the mind of the individual responsible,†said Staff Sergeant Scott Diefenbaker. “For the sake of the community, and for the victim’s family, we encourage this person to come forward so that this matter can be brought to a close.â€Â
Based on information from the public at the time of the incident, the vehicle was seen travelling on Hazel Street towards Columbia Street.
