(HALIBURTON, ON) – Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue in their efforts to get Impaired Drivers off the roads and lakes.
On July 12, 2014 at 2:25 am officers stopped a Honda Civic on Water Street in Minden Ontario for erratic driving and found that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver failed a roadside test and was transported to detachment for breath tests. The driver Derek KASPER age 21 from Barrie Ontario was charged with Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Class G2 Drivers Licence Holder Drive with more than Zero Blood Alcohol Concentration. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on September 03, 2014.
On July 13, 2014 at 2:15 pm OPP were dispatched to the Rockcliffe Tavern in Minden Ontario for a report of two intoxicated males attempting to drive their vehicle. Officers located the Lincoln vehicle as it was being driving up on the curb. The male driver Samuel SCHWASS age 25 from Amherst New York was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on September 03, 2014.
On July 17 2014 at 6:35 pm officers were on marine patrol on Haliburton Lake in the Municipality of Dysart et al Ontario. OPP observed a vessel towing a skier that was being operated in a careless manner. The vessel was stopped and the operator had been consuming alcohol. The operator failed a screening test for alcohol and was arrested. As a result Chelan BERRY age 47 from Blackstock Ontario was charged with Impaired Driving, Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Careless Operation of a Vessel as well as a mandatory 90 Day Drivers Licence Suspension. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on September 03, 2014.
