Impaired Drivers

On Thursday October 2 at approximately 5:50pm OPP officers were dispatched to a possible impaired driver on Highway 417 heading west towards Arnprior. Several callers reported erratic driving by the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located and stopped in Arnprior. The male driver had been drinking and was arrested for impaired driving. Following breath tests at the detachment Edward RIDER 23 of Ottawa was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 22. Provincial Constable Ryan Besner investigated.

On Saturday October 4 at approximately 5:50am OPP officers were notified of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 17 at Miller Road. Provincial Constable Ryan Besner stopped the vehicle near Bruce Street. After speaking with the male driver, the officer arrested him for impaired driving. A search of the male revealed a quantity of marihuana. Following breath tests at the detachment Dennis BOLTON 38 of Kanata was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, and possession of marihuana. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 22.

On Sunday October 5 OPP officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 60 east of Douglas. Upon arrival officers spoke with the male driver of the pick-up truck. After failing a roadside alcohol screening test the male was arrested. Following breath tests at the detachment Eric MACALONEY 23 of Johnson Township was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 22. Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih led the investigation.
