Yesterday, just before 6:00 pm the accused, a 45 year old Chatham female was driving her Chevy Impala along McNaughton Ave. E. near the Given Road when she lost control of the vehicle and smashed into the railway crossing arms near the tracks at this location. Citizens called police at which time; police responded and located the accused stuck near the railway wigwags.
During the police investigation, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the accused and as a result, the accused was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and for having Over 80mgs of alcohol in 100mLs of blood. When tested, her blood alcohol concentrations were almost double the legal limit. Once sober, she was released with a future court for the two charges indicated above.
