On Friday February 14th, at approximately 7:00 am the victim and the accused, a 25 year old Chatham man, engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated and it is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the hair and attempted to choke her. The accused then struck the victim with a mob causing a fracture to her right arm. The victim managed to get free and left the residence. The victim received injuries to the top of her head, her legs and her right arm as a result of this incident.
The victim subsequently notified police at which time police attended the accused address. The accused was placed under arrest and charged for Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
