Impaired Driver 2X Speed Limit Arrested – Name Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 48-year-old female with impaired driving and several other offences following a traffic stop at a Highway 3, Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Thursday August 23, 2018 at 3:10 p.m., OPP were patrolling Highway 3 near Jarden Road when a vehicle travelling west bound, at nearly two times the posted 80 km/hour speed limit, caught the attention of an officer.

OPP stopped the vehicle and investigated.

While speaking with the female driver, signs of impairment were detected and she was subsequently arrested.

Further investigation determined the vehicle that the female was operating was reported stolen.

OPP has charged 48-year-old Sharon PIROUET of Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario with:

Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

Refuse to provide a breath sample

Theft over $5,000

Speeding

Racing a motor vehicle

Driving while under suspension

Driving while disqualified

Driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence

She was held for a bail hearing in Provincial Court Cayuga.
