Impaired Care and Control

On the 1st of February 2014, Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Carslye Cr. and Esther Dr. Information recieved was that the driver was operating the vehicle on the wrong side of the road. The driver attempted to correct their actions and collided with another vehicle being operated at the intersection.

Upon police arrival, a lone male occupant claimed he was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. The 42 year old male occupying the vehicle was showing all the signs of being impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. Moments later, witnesses advised police that the driver of the vehicle was actually a female, who at the time of the accident exited the vehicle with her 5 year old child and walked to her residence which was not far from the scene of the accident.

Police attended to the females residence and found that she too was showing signs of being impaired by alcohol. The 40 year old female was arrested for impaired operation. Both male and female were transported to the station where they provided samples of their breath to determine their blood alcohol.

The male was found to have more than 3 times the legal limit where the female was twice the legal limit. Both husband and wife have now lost their respective licences for 90 days, their vehicle has been impounded, they will both be required to attend court in mid- February where their licences could be taken away for a year and recieve hefty fines.

The male was charged with Obstruct Police, Impaired care and control and over 80mgs while the female was charged with impaired operation and over 80 mgs.
