(HURON COUNTY, ON) The results are in from the 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Satisfaction Survey (CSS) and the results are once again very high for the Huron County OPP Detachment.
Between January 2, 2014 and March 31, 2014 the research firm of R.A. Malatest & Associates conducted random telephone surveys with members of the public over the age of 16 years that live within OPP West Region Jurisdictions. In total, 384 Huron County residents were contacted for this survey.
The respondents were asked about issues such as community security, perceptions of crime and youth issues in the community, OPP presence in the community, service delivery and how the OPP investigates crime and enforces the law.
The results of the survey represent the opinions of residents from the entire detachment area as the survey methodology was conducted in a way to gather a representative footprint of all the communities within Huron County.
Here are some of the key highlights:
98.9% of respondents felt “very safe†or “safe†in their community
95.7% of respondents were either “very satisfied†or “satisfied†with the OPP’s visibility on our local highways.
94.8% of respondents were either “very satisfied†or “satisfied†with the overall quality of police service provided by the OPP.
90.6% of respondents were either “very satisfied†or “satisfied†with the OPP’s ability to work with communities to solve local problems.
89.4% of respondents were either “very satisfied†or “satisfied†with the OPP’s visibility in their community.
It is also noted respondents were also asked about their perception on whether various community issues (Alcohol Abuse, Drug/Substance abuse, Illegal Drug grow operations, Domestic Violence, Drugs in schools and Violence in schools) were problems in their community. The 2014 results showed statistically significant improvement in all categories from the last survey conducted in 2011.
