Home Invasion With Weapon

(ORO-MEDONTE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday September 1, 2016, at 5:50AM, officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a break and enter with violence at a residence located on Line 5 South, Oro-Medonte Township.

Police have determined that at approximately 5:00AM, the homeowner, while letting the family dog out was approached by an unknown male who was armed with a weapon and forced him back into the residence. The male then proceeded to search the home and left a short time later with an undisclosed amount of Canadian and American currency.

This ongoing investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Barrie OPP Crime Unit who have been assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification and Photographic Services Section (FIPSS), the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit. As a result, the OPP is presently trying to locate a suspect with regards to this incident. The suspect is described as:

Male black

Medium complexion

6’ tall, very thin build

Dark clothing
