(Renfrew, Ont.) – Highway 17 near Renfrew has re-opened after six early morning collisions on Wednesday, October 30. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the area after several minor collisions. Traffic was detoured through Renfrew while officers investigated and had vehicles removed from ditches. Minor injuries were reported, but no serious injuries occurred.
Snow and freezing temperatures seemed to catch drivers off guard this morning. Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds during winter driving conditions and that bridges freeze prior to other roadways. Several of the collisions were between O’Brien Road and Bruce Street in Horton Township, where the Philip Shrive Memorial Bridge is located.
