Hero Defends Senior Citizen From Mugger

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment have arrested and charged a 33-year-old male after police investigated a Robbery at a Peel Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at approximately 1:54 p.m., police responded to a 911 emergency call for a Robbery involving a senior.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that the suspect forcibly removed a purse from a 78-year-old female of Norfolk County, Ontario while she was walking on the sidewalk.

A 52-year-old Good Samaritan of Norfolk County, Ontario observed the theft and immediately confronted the male. While dealing with the male, both became involved in a physical altercation. Police arrived on scene and subsequently took the male into custody without incident.

The 78-year-old female and 52-year-old male, were taken to a local area hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

As a result, police have charged 33-year-old Gregory Ross CAMPBELL of Norfolk County, Ontario with robbery with theft and assault.

He will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

Police want to remind the public that while the outcome of this incident was positive, police are encouraging citizens to use extreme caution before attempting to intervene with any kind of police investigation or incident.” Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
