Hall Of Shamer Caught Again – Catlin DAER

(GODERICH, ON) – A traffic stop in Goderich last week by Community Street Crimes Unit members (CSCU) has led to an arrest and subsequent criminal charges for a Goderich man.

It was just after 12:30 p.m. on January 4, 2018 when a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the prohibited driver enter into a grey Cadillac that had been parked on Nelson Street. The investigating officer followed the vehicle a short distance and watched as the driver parked and entered into a business located on Victoria Street. During this time the investigating officer was able to confirm the driver was still bound by court conditions to not be driving a motor vehicle. Moments later the male returned to his vehicle and proceeded to drive away. The suspect vehicle was followed a short distance and when the driver arrived at his destination on Balvina Drive police made contact with the driver.

He was placed under arrest for driving while prohibited and promptly taken into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed the driver to be in possession of controlled substances and open liquor.

It was also determined the accused was currently serving a probation sentence and he was failing to abide by conditions of his order.

As a result, Catlin DAER, 27 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Drive While Disqualified, two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance, four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Have Open Liquor in Other than Licenced Premises, Residence or Private Place. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 5, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
