- Project Lifesaver successful again
On June 6, 2015 at 8:20 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report that a 65-year-old female that suffers from dementia was missing. She had last been seen at 7 p.m. The female is registered with Project Lifesaver so police were able to utilize tracking equipment for the search. Twenty six minutes later, police located the female, lost and tired in the bush/swamp area off Stone Road.
Project Lifesaver Guelph Wellington assists caregivers and responds to the challenges of keeping loved ones safe when they wander due to Alzheimer’s, Autism or other forms of cognitive impairment.
2. Break and enter
On June 7, 2015, the Guelph Police went to a Woodycrest Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the backyard shed by cutting the lock. A theft of two bicycles and a helmet is reported.

3. Theft from cars
The Guelph Police received seven reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars over the weekend. The locations were Arnold Street, Waterloo Avenue, Applewood Crescent, Hearn Avenue, Paisley Road, Heath Road and Regent Street.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. 4. Weekend impaired drivers
-On June 5, 2015 at 5:26 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver on Harvard Road. The vehicle and driver were located on Harvard and the male driver was spoken too by police. Police determined that he had been drinking alcohol and he was arrested.
Mark Redrup, 50 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on July 24, 2015.
-On June 7, 2015 at 12:53 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on MacDonell Street. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Richard Bourke, 27 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on June 23, 2015.
-On June 7, 2015 at 2:15 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Bennett Avenue. Police spoke with the male driver, determined that he had been drinking alcohol and he was arrested.
Ryan Barry, 32 years of Toronto has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on June 23, 2015.
5. Weekend speed enforcement
The Guelph Police Traffic unit conducted some targeted speed enforcement over the weekend. On June 6, Stone Road East was targeted between 4:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., six speeding tickets were issued. They then set up on College Avenue West between 5:20 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and issued twelve speeding tickets.
On June 7 they returned to College Avenue West between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and issued six more tickets. From 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Edinburgh Road South was targeted and nine speeding tickets were issued.
Demerit points for speeding
0 – 15 km/hr over = 0 points
16 – 29km/hr over = 3 points
30 – 49 km/hr over = 4 points
50+ km/hr over = 6 points + 30 day license
50+km/hr over (Stunt Driving/Speed Racing) = 6 points + immediate 7 day licence suspension and car impoundment.
