Guelph Police Daily News Release – December 09, 2015

On December 8, 2015, at 9:25 p.m., the Guelph Police were contacted by a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and observed it as it passed the intersection of Paisley Street and Silvercreek Parkway North entering the westbound lanes in an eastbound direction. The vehicle subsequently struck two westbound vehicles. The driver was arrested.

Stefano Bisio-Polverino, 27 years of Cambridge has been charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. He will appear in court on January 26, 2016.

The vehicle being operated by Bisio-Polverino was demolished and the other vehicles sustained moderate damage.

Theft from cars

On December 8, 2015 the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Huron Street, Paisley Road, London Road West, Wyndham Street South and Cardigan Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. December 3rd CDSA search warrants – update

On December 3, 2015 police were granted three CDSA search warrants authorizing them to enter and search three units at a local Motel. In the early morning hours, members of the Tactical Response Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit executed the warrants arresting a total of twelve adults within the three units.

On December 8, 2015 one more arrest was made in connection to this incident.

Karen Wesley, 37 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on January 15, 2016.

The other arrested persons included:

Travis Thompson, 43 years of Owen Sound has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime. He will appear in court on January 15, 2016.

Laura Page, 52 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on January 15, 2016.

Melanie Gelfand, 30 years of Elmira has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on January 12, 2016.

Kathleen Snider, 33 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on January 15, 2016.

Ronald Kirkbride, 36 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of breach of recognizance and possession of a prohibited weapon. He will appear in court on December 10, 2015.

Henok Getahum, 26 years of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court on December 18, 2015
