Guelph Police Daily News Release – 24Feb2016

A Guelph Police Drug Unit investigation that started in early February into alleged drug trafficking, concluded on February 23 with six arrests and a search warrant.

The search warrant was executed at a Southcreek Trail home. Police seized cocaine, MDMA, marihuana, cash, digital scales, a spring assisted knife, a machete style knife, a bayonette and $1,200 in cash.

A 35-year-old Guelph man has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon contrary to a court order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 24, 2016.

Kelsey Feisntein, 23 year old female from Waterloo has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Kheir Poya Hakimi, 30 year old male from Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Sarmod Hakimi, 28 year old male from Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Abdul Hakimi, 33 year old male from Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Suleman Hamkar, 29 year old male from Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

The name of the first accused has not been released due to the fact that he is still in police custody.

Schools put into hold and secure – update

On February 23, 2016 at 12:26 p.m., Centennial High school and College Heights were both put into hold and secure. This was in response to the report by students that had been near the arena that a male known to them, approached and pulled a knife. The male then left on foot. Police conducted a search of the area and determined that the male was no longer on the properties. The hold and secure was lifted at 1:25 p.m. The male responsible was located and arrested by police at 1:45 p.m. No one was injured in the incident.

Matthew Brooks, 18 years of Kincardine has been charged with weapons dangerous. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Hit and run

On February 23, 2016 at 4:10 p.m., the Guelph Police investigated a hit and run collision on Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. A 73-year-old male riding a mobility scooter was crossing Woolwich Street in the crosswalk when he was struck by a motor vehicle that was driving north on Woolwich Street. The scooter was knocked over causing the man to fall onto the roadway. The vehicle pulled into the Canadian Tire parking lot but then continued north on Woolwich. Several people gave assistance to the man who was later transported by GWEMS to Guelph Hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicle is described as a dark grey four door sedan. It may have minor damage to its front passenger side bumper.

Shoplifter arrested

On February 23, 2016 at 1:10 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Stone Road Mall to assist with a shoplifter. It is alleged that the male entered a shoe store in the mall, placed a new pair of boots on his feet and put his shoes in the box, then left the store wearing the new boots. He was arrested by police.

A 28-year-old Guelph man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 24, 2016.

In the area of Downey Road at Pheasant Run from 8:10 a.m. – 9:10 a.m. 1 ticket issued.

In the area of Gordon Street at Harts Lane from 12:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 1 ticket issued.

Remember, unless otherwise posted, the speed limit on city streets is 50 km/hr.
