Guelph Police Daily News Release – 21Jan2016

On January 21, 2016 at 2:54 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Grange Street. The investigation determined that the male driver not only had various Highway Traffic Act violations but was breaching court imposed conditions. A search also discovered a quantity of Oxycodone and Hydro Morphine pills. The man was arrested.

A 45-year-old Guelph man has been charged with breach of probation (C.C.) and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension, operate motor vehicle – no currently validated permit and use validation not furnished for vehicle. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 21, 2016.

City bus/car collision

On January 20, 2016 at 11:40 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Gordon Street and Norfolk Street for a reported collision. It is alleged that a vehicle drove through a red light and was struck by a City transit bus. Minor injuries were reported.

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 19-year-old female from Cambridge has been charged with red light – fail to stop under the Highway Traffic Act.

Theft from cars

On January 20, 2016 the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Victoria Road South and two on Bristol Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
