Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 21Jan2016

Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision CK16001634

Last night, shortly after 6:00 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a Pontiac Montana van and two pedestrians on Longwoods Road east of Bothwell.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the van was travelling eastbound on Longwoods Road when he struck two local teenagers, one on a bicycle and one on foot.

The 14-year-old youth walking on foot sustained life threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to Four Counties Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

His friend, also 14 years, was knocked off his bike and transported to Four Counties Hospital for medical treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the van, a 52-year-old Wardsville man was not physically injured.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Doug Cowell at 519-355-1092.

Man Arrested from Wanted List CK16001627

On August 24, 2015 the man was released from custody for the offences of possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, possession of a credit card, uttering a forged document and drug possession.

On October 29, 2015 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night police received information that the man was currently at a store on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers attended and arrested the man on the outstanding warrant.

The 35-year-old Walpole Island man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16001659

Last night around 11:15 p.m. the man attended his ex-common-law’s residence in Tilbury to discuss a cell phone bill. As the woman asked the man to leave and closed the door, he broke two of her windows. Damage was estimated at $500. The man fled the area prior to police arrival however was located and taken into custody about an hour and a half later.

Through investigation, the woman reported a previous incident of domestic violence.

The 46-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with assault, break and enter and two counts of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16001623

Sometime yesterday morning around 11:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Wellington Street East. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole numerous electronics and a Schwinn bicycle.
