Guelph Police Daily News Release 20Nov2017

On the morning of November 19th, police were investigating the recovery of a vehicle in the south end of the city that had been stolen earlier in the day from the Niagara region. Police located a male and a female in the area of the stolen vehicle that were in possession of property belonging to the vehicle’s owner.

The 27 year old male from St. Catharines is charged with possession of stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of obstruct police and breach of probation. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.

The 24 year old female, Brooke Pritchard of St. Catharines, was charged with possession of stolen property and released to appear in court at a later date.

Building tenant charged

In the early evening hours of November 18th a resident of an east end apartment building used a piece of pipe in an attempt to get into a locked room of the building and in the process caused damage to the door. When the resident was confronted by the building superintendent, the resident swung the pipe at the superintendent. The superintendent was not hit but police were called to investigate.

The 26 year old tenant, Michael Businaro, was charged with mischief and assault with a weapon. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Break and enter charges

On October 27, 2017 a male entered a Woolwich Street apartment and took personal cheques that belonged to the resident. Later the next week the cheques were used fraudulently at an area financial business.

On November 17th the responsible person was located and arrested. Brandon Harron, a 38 year old Guelph man was charged with break and enter as well as two counts of utter a forged document. He was released to appear in court in December.

Obstruct police charges

On the morning of November 18th, police assisted with a male that was causing a problems with Stone Road Mall security staff. Investigation revealed the male identified himself as someone he was not and he was arrested. He was also found in possession of identification that was not legally issued to him.

The 23 year old Guelph man was charged with obstruct police, possession of identity documents, breach of recognizance and breach of probation. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in bail court.
