(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Monday, November 23, 2015 at approximately 3:50 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the area of Bayfield Street and Nelson Street in the Municipality of Meaford after receiving a report of a man, wielding a screw driver, threatening to stab another man with it.
Three citizens, who witnessed the threat, restrained the suspect before any physical contact was made with the victim. The accused discontinued his attempt to assault the victim, a 44-year old Meaford man, and left the area on foot. He was located a short distance away and was arrested by police.
40-year old Brent Everest LAWRENCE of the Municipality of Meaford was charged with assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound in January 7, 2016.
There were no injuries reported.
