Good Samaritans Rescue 65 Year Old From Burning Building

(LAMBTON, ON) – On Wednesday April 6th, 2016 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Lambton County OPP was requested to attend Queen Street, Petrolia to assist Enniskillen Fire Department with a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, police observed that the residence was already completed engulfed by fire. Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department was requested and also attended to assist crews already on scene. Queen Street, Petrolia was closed to both pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic while emergency personnel extinguished the fire.

65 year old Cathryn Mary CHARLTON of Petrolia Ontario was removed from the burning residence by some good samaritan’s and was then transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries. The victim has since recovered from her injuries and been released from hospital.

The Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) was requested and attended the location. The OFM has deemed the fire to be non-suspicious in nature but the exact cause has yet to be determined.
