Good Samaritan Blocks Traffic With Vehicle To Protect Police & Citizen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment wish to say Thank you to two concerned citizens who stopped to assist an Officer during a Mental Health Act (MHA) apprehension at a Highway 3, Cayuga, Haldimand County, ON address.

On Saturday November 21st, 2015 at approximately 5:01pm, a member of the Haldimand County OPP responded to report of a female party in distress.

Upon arrival, the Officer located the female running in and out of traffic on Highway 3. Physical control was required by the Officer to apprehend the female under the Mental Health Act. A concerned motorist observed the Officer and female lying on the shoulder of the busy roadway. The motorist positioned their vehicle behind the Officer to block traffic. Upon arrival of additional OPP units, the motorist then left the scene.

The OPP would like to say “thank you,” to the motorist for their assistance, in ensuring that the female party, and Officer were not injured as a result of this incident.
