(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Lakeshore, while on routine patrol on September 21, 2015 at approximately 2:10 p.m., observed a red Pontiac travelling westbound on Essex County Road 34, just east of Essex County Road 19, travelling at an extremely high rate of speed.
The vehicle was clocked at approximately 72 kilometres over the posted limit of 80 kilometres per hour.
The vehicle was stopped and the lone male driver was issued a roadside screening demand, of which he registered a “fail”.
The male was arrested at the scene.
Giovanni MARTINICO, age 65 of Windsor was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content under the Criminal Code of Canada, Stunt Racing under the Highway Traffic Act as well as Having Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle, under the Liquor Licence Act.
He will appear in a Windsor court on October 1, 2015 to answer to the charge.
