On Wednesday October 4 th , 2017 just before 5:00 p.m. the Owen Sound Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving the area of the LCBO situated on the east side of the city. A description of the vehicle and the driver was broadcasted to the patrol units. An officer spotted the vehicle and was successful in stopping it in the 1400 block of 8 th Avenue West in the city. It was determined that the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle was in fact impaired by the consumption of alcohol. Fortunately, the 34 year old female driver was stopped and arrested just prior to picking
up her young child from daycare.
Once at the Owen Sound Police Service samples of the driver’s breath were taken by a qualified technician and analyzed. It was determined that the driver had over 4 ½ times the legal limit of alcohol in her system. This Owen Sound resident now has to appear in court later this month to answer to the charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation with over 80mgs. of alcohol. Her driver’s licence has been suspended initially for a period of 90 days and her vehicle
towed and impounded for 7 days, which is all at the driver’s expense.
