G1 DRIVER CHARGED FOR DRIVING AT UNLAWFUL HOUR

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On March 19, 2014 at approximately 2:00 a.m. members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 69 in Shawanaga Township.

The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, identified himself with a “G1 Class” Ontario Driver’s licence. As per the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, a driver possessing a G1 Driver’s licence must have an accompanying “G Class” licenced person sitting in the front passenger seat. Furthermore, a G1 Class licence holder must not drive between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m.

Jamey WEBSTER, 46 years of age from Capreol, was charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:

– Speeding,

– Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver,

– Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive at Unlawful Hour.

The accused was released with Provincial Offence Notices.
