Stratford – Families are invited to a family adventure with a free movie screening of The Croods in Stratford on Sunday, November 10. The event is taking place at the Stratford-Perth Family YMCA at 204 Downie Street in Stratford. Free games and activities, such as button making and a photo booth, will start at 2pm. The movie, The Croods, will start at 3pm. Free popcorn for everyone who attends. Come early! Space is limited. Please feel free to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on.
The movie event is taking place to educate parents about the health risks smoking in movies can have on children and youth. “Research shows the more that youth see smoking in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking,†says Janet Jackson, Public Health Manager. “As well, seeing smoking in movies makes it seem that smoking is more common place and socially acceptable than it actually is.â€Â
The movie event is being hosted by the Perth District Health Unit, the THINK team, and the Stratford-Perth Family YMCA.
