Fraud Artists and Shop Lifters Busted at Walmart – Danny Perry, Shannon Montgomery, Lief Edwards – One Charged With Methamphetamine Possession

(Goderich, ON) On March 19, 2010 shortly before 7:00 pm, a male and female were shopping at the Wal-Mart store in Goderich. The two made a purchase and the male then left the store with the items and returned afterwards. The female obtained identical items to what had been purchased and, using the bill of sale, returned the items for a cash refund. Wal-Mart Loss Prevention officers had been watching however, and after the return was completed, the two parties were placed under arrest and held for police officers.

Once Huron OPP officers arrived, the suspects were searched incident to arrest. The female was found to be in possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation and the observant work of the Wal-Mart Loss Prevention personnel, the following charges have been laid;

Shannon MONTGOMERY (25) of Central Huron is facing one count of Fraud Under $5,000 and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine. She will return to the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 26, 2010 to answer to her charges.

Danny PERRY (28) of Wingham is facing one count of Fraud Under $5,000. He will also answer to his charge on April 26, 2010. LP10068477

In a second incident on March 20, 2010 at approximately 5:30 pm, Loss Prevention officers stopped a 17 year old Central Huron male after he was caught shoplifting in the store. The male is facing one count of Theft Under $5,000 and he will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich Youth Court. He was turned over to his mother from the scene. In a third Wal-Mart incident on March 20th, 2010 a 24 year old Goderich male was caught shoplifting from the store. Once again, Loss Prevention officers observed the male leave the store with an item hidden inside his coat. He was arrested by store staff and held for Huron OPP officers. The male was arrested by police and held in custody for a bail hearing. He was later released from custody.

As a result of the investigation, Lief EDWARDS is facing one count of Theft Under $5,000 and one count of Breach Probation. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 26, 2010. LP10069712
