(DRYDEN, ON) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like the public to be aware of a current scam that was reported to police. A Dryden resident was contacted by a male claiming to be his nephew. He stated he was in jail for an impaired operation charge and required 2500.00 dollars for bail. Then he received a call from another male stating he was his nephews lawyer confirming his charges and provided instructions on how the resident could forward the bail money via Western Union.
Police would like to remind residents that this is a common fraud. If you are requested to send money for a relative, call someone to ensure it is your family member, don’t send money and never give out any personal information over the phone.
