Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged an 18-year-old male with multiple offences following a traffic stop at a New Credit Road, Mississauga’s of the New Credit First Nation, Ontario address.

On Tuesday October 25, 2016 at approximately 12:47 p.m., an alert officer observed a motor vehicle that caught their attention. OPP stopped the vehicle and investigated.

As a result of investigation, OPP determined the vehicle licence plates were reported stolen. The male was immediately arrested. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a firearm and ammunition were located inside the vehicle.

OPP has charged 18-year-old Jordan TOBICOE of the Mississauga’s of the New Credit First Nation with:

– POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME UNDER $5000

– UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF A FIREARM

– CARELESS STORAGE OF A FIREARM

– CARELESS STORAGE OF AMMUNITION

– OCCUPANT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE KNOWING THERE WAS A FIREARM

– DRIVE MOTOR VEHICLE – NO LICENCE

– OPERATE UNSAFE VEHICLE

– OPERATE VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE

– USE PLATE NOT AUTHORIZED FOR VEHICLE

– USE VALIDATION NOT FURNISHED FOR VEHICLE

He was held in custody for a bail hearing in Provincial Court, Cayuga.
