25 June 2015 at approximately 6:19pm, emergency services responded to 492 Ottawa Street South in the City of Kitchener due to a reported fire. The fire is believed to have started in a lower unit and spread quickly throughout the unit. Kitchener Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire. The resident of this unit was treated by ambulance and declined to attend hospital. No other parties were injured. The unit involved sustained direct damage, however the residents of the remaining 11 units were displaced due to concerns stemming from smoke damage. At this time no damage value has been set.
