FESTIVE R.I.D.E RESULTS

(HALIBURTON, ON) – Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been actively conducting R.I.D.E. checks throughout Haliburton County as part of the Festive RIDE Program. After the first week of the campaign officers have conducted 13 R.I.D.E. programs, with 533 vehicles checked; 4 roadside tests of which all divers passed; 4 Highway Traffic Act warnings; 1 Highway Traffic Act charge.

Our goal in the campaign is to increase compliance which in turn would reduce drinking & driving related motor vehicle collision fatalities and injuries on our highways. We want to make sure it is a safe as possible for motorists in Haliburton County according to Staff Sergeant Chad Bark, Detachment Commander for Haliburton Highlands OPP

The Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign runs from November 23, 2013 – January 02, 2014. The Haliburton Highlands OPP will be conducting a kick-off with MADD Canada and Haliburton County EMS partners on Monday December 02, 2013 10:00 am at the OPP detachment on Highway 35 in Minden.
