On April 23, 2015 Barrie Police were dispatched to a housing complex located in the North West end of the City after a 27 year old female reported being robbed of money.
The first uniform police officers to arrive located the female lying next to her motor vehicle and she advised the officers that a male had just robbed her of $300.00 cash. A small knife at this time had been located next to this female and believed to be the weapon used.
To assist in the investigation the K9 unit was brought in for a search of this male suspect.
During various stages of this investigation a total of 17 Police Officers were involved.
In the early hours of April 30, 2015 the female that reported the robbery attended to the Barrie Police station and requested to speak with a detective.
After speaking with the detective the female confessed that the robbery had never taken place and that she made up the story so that her boyfriend would pay attention to her.
The female was arrested, charged with Public Mischief and is to appear in court on a later date.
