(Oro-Medonte, ON) – On Friday, April 11, 2015, at approximately 10:54 P.M. officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a Line 14 residence in Oro-Medonte Twp in regards to a domestic incident.
As a result of the call officers attended a residence in response to a call being placed to 911. Upon arriving officers encountered an adult female who displayed visible injuries.
Police determined that the couple were engaged in a verbal altercation earlier in the evening. This dispute became physical when the male grabbed the female’s wrists and began forcing her own fists into her face area. The female was then choked to a point where she lost conscious. After the victim regained conscious, she attempted to call for help using the house phone, but it was thrown away so it was no longer operational. The victim was forcibly confined to stay in the residence and was unable to seek help. The victim was taken to Orillia hospital where she received medical treatment for her injuries.
Charged with “Assault – Spousal”, “Forcible Confinement” and “Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person” is a 55 year old male from Oro-Medonte Twp. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Courts in Barrie on Monday April 13th, 2015 for a Bail Hearing.
