(Oro-Medonte, ON)- Barrie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a two vehicle motor vehicle collision, that occurred at 4:45 pm Saturday, December 14th on County Road 22 (Horseshoe Valley Road) west of Line Six in Oro-Medonte Twp.
A Volkswagen Jetta which was westbound on County Rd 22 when the driver lost control and drifted sideways into the eastbound lanes. A Cadillac Escalade which was eastbound on County Rd 22 struck the Volkswagen. As a result of the impact the driver of the Volkswagen, Gordon MCGIRR age 22 of Wasaga Beach, and Passenger Rebecca JOHNSTON age 24 of Collingwood sustained fatal injuries. The 29 year old driver of the Cadillac from Orillia was uninjured. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) is continuing the investigation. Investigation indicates weather conditions and speed were factors in the collision.
County Road 22 was closed between Line 4 and Line 7 for 4.5 hours for the investigation.
