(EAST ZORRA – TAVISTOCK TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a three-vehicle fatal collision on Highway 59 in East Zorra – Tavistock Township.
On December 5, 2014 at approximately 5:50 p.m. police were called to the collision on Highway 59 between Maplewood Sideroad and Oxford Road 34. Police have learned that a northbound Honda Civic collided with the rear of a grain bin being towed by a farm tractor. The Honda then spun out of control and collided head-on with a southbound Dodge pickup truck.
As a result of the collision the driver of the Honda, an adult male died at the scene of the crash. The adult female driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor was uninjured. The passenger of the Honda, a five year old male was transported to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team is at the scene to assist with the investigation. The East Zorra-Tavistock Fire Department (Tavistock station), Perth EMS, and Oxford EMS attended and assisted at the scene.
Highway 59 has been closed between Maplewood Sideroad and Oxford Road 34 and drivers are asked to find alternate routes and drive with caution in this area for the safety of the responders.
The identity of the deceased male is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
