FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – HWY 6 SOUTHGATE

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Friday, November 15, 2013 at approximately 7:44 p.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 approximately one half kilometer south of Grey Rd. 9 in the Township of Southgate.

A Dodge Caravan travelling northbound on Hwy. 6 collided with the side of a tractor trailer which was reversing into a private laneway at the time.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan was extricated from the vehicle by the West Grey Fire Department and transported by ambulance to the Mount Forest Hospital. She was then air lifted to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto in serious condition.

The passenger in the Dodge Caravan was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Dianne MCKINNEY, age 74, of West Grey.

There were no other passengers inside the van. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The OPP West Regional Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Hwy. 6 from Grey Rd. 9 south to Southgate Rd. 12 is expected to remain closed for approximately 2 hours for emergency responders.
