Fatal Collision West Of Blyth

(MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) On Friday August 01, 2014, at 3:45 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a serious collision at the intersection of Walton Rd. and Clyde Line, involving an ATV and a pickup truck towing a utility trailer.

Investigation revealed that the Honda ATV had been travelling south bound on Clyde Line while the Chevy pickup truck was travelling west bound on Walton Rd. The ATV collided with the pickup truck’s rear bumper and the utility trailer in the middle of the intersection of the two gravel roads. The impact caused the ATV rider to be thrown from his machine and land in the ditch area on the south west corner of the intersection.

The ATV rider was tended to by members of the North Huron Fire Department and Huron County EMS personnel. The rider was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The ATV rider has been identified as Kenneth PLUNKETT (22) of the Municipality of North Huron.

The 39 year old male driver of the pickup truck, a Municipality of Morris-Turnberry resident and his three child passengers did not sustain injuries as a result of the collision.

Traffic around the Walton Rd. and Clyde Line intersection will continue to be diverted until approximately 9 p.m., allowing the Huron County OPP and the OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit to safely investigate this collision.
