Fatal Collision Update: Deceased Identified

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene of a fatal collision which occurred on April 18, 2015 at approximately 4:54 p.m.

A green Lincoln car was northbound on Adelaide Road. It entered the intersection at Ilderton Road where it was struck by a white Chevrolet van, travelling eastbound.

Adelaide Road is governed by stop signs.

The lone occupant of the Lincoln, 89 year old male Bruce HOTSON, from Middlesex Centre, Ontario, had to be extricated from the car by the Middlesex Centre Fire Department. He was transported by ambulance to hospital where he succumbed to his life-threatening injuries, and died.

The occupants of the van were a 38 year old male driver, and a 39 year old female passenger, from Middlesex Centre, Ontario. The female suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

As a result, Adelaide Road was closed from Ten Mile Road to Twelve Mile Road. Ilderton Road was closed from Richmond Street to Highbury Avenue for approximately 7 hours. Motorists had to find alternative routes.
