Fatal Collision Update: Deceased Identified

OPP can now identify the deceased driver as Anthony BAKUNIEC (age 87) and the passenger as Ruth BAKUNIEC (age 86) of Tiny Township.

The driver of the Chevrolet pick-up truck remains in a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries.

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Tiny Fire and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on June 27, 2015 at 1:41p.m on the 12th Concession in Tiny Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a westbound Mazda motor vehicle and an eastbound Chevrolet pick-up truck were involved in a head on collision. The male and female passengers in the Mazda succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local Hospital and the services of Ornge have been requested to transport to a Toronto area hospital for further care.

Attending officers are being assisted in the investigation by members of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Investigations Unit (TTCI)

The 12th Concession of Tiny Township between County Road 6 and Morningdove will be closed for several hours.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing and no names will be released as next of kin has not been notified.
