(THAMES CENTRE, ON) -Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thames Centre Fire Department and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a fatal collision involving a car and a transport truck that occurred at approximately 12:33 a.m. on September 18, 2014.
Police have learned that a car travelling eastbound on Highway 401 ran into the back of a transport truck parked on the shoulder just east of Elgin Road. The driver of the car, 54 year old male Adel ZECHARIA was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured in the collision. .
The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Team attended to assist with the investigation.
Police had the eastbound Highway 401 on ramp from Elgin Road and two eastbound lanes closed at Elgin Road for approximately five hours as emergency responders worked at the scene.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
