FATAL COLLISION CLOSES HIGHWAY 69 AT PICKEREL RIVER BRIDGE – Names of Victims Released

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles approximately 500 metres south of the Pickerel River Bridge in Mowat Township.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:02 p.m. when a south bound Dodge Town and Country collided head on with a northbound Toyota Corolla. The Dodge Caravan then hit a northbound Jeep Wrangler. Four people were injured and transported to hospital by Emergency Management Services (EMS). The Toyota driver, Patrick OBRIAN, 63, of Barrie was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the Dodge, Brian HAZEN, 56 from Walsingham and Stephen PANASIUK, 40 of Bayham were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two occupants in the Toyota, Skylar ENG-ANDERSON, 13 of Penetanguishene was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and Jasmin DIXON, 58 from Barrie remains in serious condition in hospital.

Investigation is ongoing. Highway 69 was reopened at 7:30 p.m.
