(ESPANOLA, ON) – On December 6, 2016 at 11:37 p.m., members from the Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, west of the Town of Massey.
Preliminary investigation indicates than an eastbound moving van crossed the roadway and collided with an oncoming westbound passenger car.
Investigation has revealed that two persons from the passenger car were killed with two passengers from the same vehicle transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with serious injuries. The driver of the moving van was also transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.
Officers remain on scene while the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI).
Identity of the deceased persons is pending due to notification of next of kin.
Highway 17 has re-opened and was closed for approximately seven hours.
