Police received a call to a west end home with regards to a family dispute. A father and son had engaged in a verbal altercation and the son ran from the residence. As the father locked the door the youth kicked it smashing the lock.
Police attended and located the 16 year old male at a neighbour’s residence which turned out to be a breach of his probation order. Officers went to apprehend the male and a struggle ensured. The male attempted to remove a firearm from an officer’s holster before being secured in custody.
The youth was held for bail on charges of Mischief, failing to comply with probation, assault with intent to resist arrest and disarm a police officer.
