The Waterloo Regional Police Service will be increasing its uniform presence in the town of Ayr, following a series of residential Break and Enters.
On January 21, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a family returned to their home to find it had been entered by an unknown male intruder who was inside the residence wearing a mask and carrying a knife. After a brief confrontation, the intruder dropped the homeowner’s belongings and fled on foot. This is the fourth Break and Enter in the area since December 18, 2015.
Police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity immediately, ensure their doors and windows are secure, and be conscious of who has access to information about when they may not be at home.
Waterloo Regional Police will be hosting a resource booth at the North Dumfries Community Centre tonight (January 22) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to provide residents with information on how to perform a Home Security Audit, and will also be canvassing the area door-to-door over the coming days.
The suspect from this incident is described as white, approximately six feet tall, with a thin build. He is believed to be between 16-20 years of age. He was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, black pants and a blue parka style winter coat. He was also in possession of two backpacks – one appeared to be a new, black Starter” backpack with an ‘S’ on it and the other was a grey in colour.
