Failed Passing Attempt Results In 3 Motorcycle Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment is investigating a motorcycle collision at a Highway 6, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Friday, May 13, 2016 at approximately 6:18 p.m., OPP, Haldimand County Paramedics attended a Highway 6 and Concession 11 Walpole, Ontario address for a collision involving three (3) motorcyclists.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that approximately fifteen (15) motorcyclists were travelling northbound on Highway 6 when they encountered a slower moving vehicle. The cyclists began to pass the motor vehicle after there was a break in traffic. As the last three (3) cyclists were passing, they encountered a vehicle heading southbound when they had to take evasive action resulting in all riders losing control.

As a result, a 26-year-old male from Aurora, Ontario, a 36-year-old male from Burlington, Ontario and a 38-year-old male from Mississauga collided with the pavement resulting in all riders receiving non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.

Highway 6 at Concession 11 Walpole was closed temporarily to allow for police investigation.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
