(Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 7 near Providence Line for an expired validation sticker yesterday shortly after 10:30pm.
After speaking with the driver, officers noticed a strong odour inside the vehicle. Carmi GALLANT (age 34) of Tay Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a schedule II controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (marihuana)
Drive a vehicle without proper validation sticker
Owner operate vehicle without insurance
Driver fail to surrender permit for vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, Ontario on December 15, 2016.
