(ESSEX, ON) One man is in custody after an armed robbery occurred in Essex on August 8, 2014.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex, responded to a call at 12:30 a.m. this morning, at Mac’ s Milk, 196 Talbot Street North in Essex for a report of a male who entered the store with a handgun, demanding money from the clerk.
The male fled the scene with a small amount of cash. The Essex County OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Essex County OPP K-9 Unit as well as uniformed officers from Essex County, responded and apprehended the male a short distance away without incident. No one was injured in the incident. This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
The male, a 27 year old from Essex, was taken for a bail hearing and remains in custody. He is charged with the following offences:
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Robbery with a Weapon
Possession of a Schedule I Substance
Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
