Escape Used To Attempt To Evade RIDE Check

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) – On Sunday June 25, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Highway 7, near the Guelph/Woolwich Towline. At approximately 2:30 a.m. the driver of a Ford Escape attempted to avoid the R.I.D.E. check.

The driver was stopped and while speaking with the female driver officers formed the opinion that she was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

37-year-old Renee C. HUGLI of Guelph has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on July 25, 2017.
